What is a value?
The value is a number associated with your specific test result, and is compared to a “range.” Your positive or negative result is based on whether or not your test value falls within the range for each specific STD. For example, your HSV 1 test results might have a value of 0.19 and the reference range is < 0.90 – this means that any results less than 0.9 are negative.
What is a reference range?
The reference range indicates what is in the positive, negative, indeterminate or equivocal ranges for any STD test results.
What is a reflex test?
A reflex test is a second STD test that is performed in order to verify the results of the first.
What does equivocal mean?
"Equivocal" means the rest is neither strongly positive nor strongly negative. Re-testing would be recommended for a determinate result.
What does indeterminate mean?
"Indeterminate" means that the test is neither strongly positive nor strongly negative. In most cases, re-testing is recommended for an indeterminate result.

No sign of infection was detected.
What does nonreactive mean?
No sign of infection was detected.
What does positive mean?
Signs of infection were detected during the test.
