It soon became popular for it's eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique and local nostalgic decor, as well as it's wide array of hearty yet modestly priced sandwiches, subs and entrees. | | Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two a year, and expanded into two neighboring states. Some Macado's are located in malls, such as Mercer Mall in Bluefield, Grand Pavilion in Roanoke, and Concord Mills in N.C.(near the race track). Others cater to the downtown business crowd, such as in Farmville and Galax. | | The already-lengthily menu has been changed and expanded over the years, and several events have grown in popularity, such as the Macado's annual St. Patrick's Day party and the Halloween party. Loyal customers have made Macado's part of their own tradition! Once trained, the new manager assumes increased responsibility, while having access to the guidance of the Director of Operations and the District Managers, who themselves have come up through the ranks and have many years of experience with Macado's. Our paid training program is thorough, and includes both classroom and hands-on training over a six-week period. In intense classroom instruction, trainees will learn, discuss and be tested on a wide range of management and technical skills. They will be trained on state-of-the-art hospitality computer systems created completely "in-house".
